College Student Launches New Job Search

College sophomore Chris Merkle launches Bluseer, an online job search exclusively for students. Bluseer helps to match students with job opportunities based on their majors. This new job search has recently been used by top employers such as Georgia-Pacific and top talent from schools such as Harvard and MIT.

Atlanta, GA, April 23, 2008 --(PR.com)-- When Georgia State student Christopher Merkle began his job search he, like many others, found it saturated with jobs. His dilemma was that the jobs were not suited for entry-level candidates and Merkle did not have enough experience to apply for the jobs he wanted. His frustration led to the birth of Bluseer, an online employment company exclusively for students. Bluseer was founded a month after Merkle's 18th birthday in 2005 and has been growing since. A recent eCareer Fair (virtual job fair) open to students in the Atlanta Metro network produced over 1,200 new registrants in one week.

Bluseer is for Students, Employers, and Career Centers

Today students from Georgia Institute of Technology, Emory University, University of Georgia, and Virginia Tech, among others can locate available jobs from reputable employers through Bluseer including: Encadria, Delta, Norfolk Southern, Southern Company, UPS, and many more. Merkle has recently become affiliated with universities in Boston, including Harvard and MIT. Merkle's goal is to create and expand into ten new networks across the country by Summer 2008.

The Bluseer Difference

After selecting a base network, students have the ability to perform searches of verified employers by keyword, industry, major, or other "networks," meaning the Bluseer Geographical Networks. Best of all---students are more likely to have qualifications suited for an entry-level job then if they searched the larger, mainstream job sites such as Monster and CareerBuilder. One student who recently participated in a Bluseer eCareer Fair said, "Bluseer does a good job of explaining the website with relevant information and I like how it matches possible jobs with the major the individual selects."

Employers using Bluseer are better able to brand their company and target the type of talent they seek by creating a virtual presence on Bluseer. Employers can customize their own company page, just like an employer booth at a career fair, allowing students to learn more about their company and the job positions they have to offer. Bluseer also allows employers the creation of custom applicant filters. As a result, employers never receive unqualified candidates' applications, or multiple submissions--thus reducing the amount of time spent verifying applications, saving the company time and money. While other search engines crawl the web or read data feeds from other websites, Bluseer verifies each employer and job listing before it is posted to their database, ensuring student safety and Bluseer's high standards for integrity. This verification process prevents spam, "get rich quick" scams, and other illegitimate opportunities.

Virtual Career Fairs

The quarterly eCareer Fairs offered by Bluseer also reduce the amount of capital required for traditional career fairs. There is no need for expensive booths and promotional materials, or the cost of getting to the location - which may be hundreds of miles away. Bluseer's eCareer Fairs also allow employers the opportunity of national exposure so they can be seen by thousands of students across the country.
