Celebrity Hairstylist Kristen Lock to Launch New Urban Hairstyling Instructional DVD Series: Cornrows 101 and Tree Braids 101.

Los Angeles, CA, April 24, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Celebrity hairstylist and educator, Kristen Lock partners with GREYTV to launch her first urban hairstyling instructional video series. Cornrows 101, the first in the series, features instruction, maintenance tips and an interview with the Mixed Chicks.

Celebrity hairstylist and educator, Kristen Lock launches her first urban hairstyling instructional DVD series on April 28, 2008. The series is produced in collaboration with GREYTV, one of Los Angeles’ most progressive production companies. In this innovative new collection of DVDs, viewers get one-on-one instruction in mastering some of the industry’s most popular hairstyling techniques and unique insights into the urban hair care market.

Cornrows 101 is the first video in the new series of urban hairstyling instructional videos featuring Kristen Lock and produced by K Maree Educational Services. The series is designed for professional stylists who want to supplement their training and improve their skills. The videos can also be used by novices who want to save or make money by learning to braid. In Cornrows 101, Lock introduces viewers to a style of braiding essential for new braiders, as well as stylists interested in improving their hair-weaving techniques. The second video, Tree Braids 101, gives viewers a step-by-step lesson in one of the most popular styles of braiding offered in salons across the United States.

Lock first began braiding at the age of 14, and has since developed a style and talent that is recognized throughout Southern California. In her series of instructional DVDs, she shares her immense knowledge and styling expertise with viewers in an easy-to-digest format for both new and more experienced braiders. In addition to providing top-notch instruction, Lock also brings in additional hair care experts. Cornrows 101 features an interview with Wendi Levy and Kim Etheridge, founders of Mixed Chicks, a hair care product line created for women with thick, curly hair.

In sharp contrast to other urban hairstyling instructional videos, Cornrows 101 is shot in a salon setting and boasts superior production quality. To ensure that the DVD would grab viewers’ attention, Kristen Lock partnered with Los Angeles-based production company GREYTV. The company specializes in broadband, film and television and its clients include several award-winning advertising agencies as well as MTV, VH1 and InStyle.

“Instructional videos are becoming increasingly popular as continuing education resources for stylists in salons,” says Kristen Lock. “We wanted to create a high caliber series that would both engage viewers, and prove useful to them regardless of their level of experience.

In addition to easy-to-follow instruction, hair maintenance tips and interviews, Cornrows 101 also includes a business talk section, essential for salon industry professionals.
