Single Nashville Songwriter Pens Marriage Book
Nashville, TN, April 23, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Erika Chambers has spent the past three years writing and performing Americana/Roots music in Nashville, TN. In the last year she has shared show bills with local favorites, Leigh Nash, Julie Lee and Brooke Waggoner, and was one of ten songwriters chosen to showcase at IBMA’s World of Bluegrass in 2007. But now the single 26-year-old is taking a break from music in order to promote a marriage book— a book she co-wrote with her mother.

Can My Marriage be Saved? True Stories of Saved Marriages recounts the journeys of 23 married couples whose relationships recovered from issues such as adultery, sexual addiction, codependency—even the death of their children. The first story in the book is that of Erika’s parents, Mae and John Chambers, whose marriage came back from the brink of divorce more than 22 years ago.

“My mom and dad almost didn’t make it,” says Erika. “With issues like substance abuse and adultery, the odds were stacked against them. They had to make some serious life changes in order to make the marriage thing work. It took a lot of forgiveness and rebuilding of trust.”

The idea for this book came to Mae Chambers more than ten years ago. As she and John have continually shared their own story with struggling married couples, they’ve seen the “power of a true story” firsthand. Last year, Mae and Erika finally teamed up to make the book a reality.

“You don’t have to be married to understand the importance of a healthy family,” says Erika. “As the child of a saved marriage, I’ve seen both sides. It means the world to a kid when they know their parents are committed to each other—even when it’s hard.
