NPSA Supports Container Art Initiatives Worldwide
The National Portable Storage Association applauds the Kaohsiung International Container Arts Festival, which uses portable storage containers to express eco-art.
Kansas City, MO, April 25, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Portable storage containers may not look like works of art, but then again beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Each year, international artists gather in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan's densest and second largest city with a population of 1.5 million, for the Kaohsiung International Container Arts Festival.
This visual arts exhibition aims to create a harmonious existence between humans and nature through the "Sustainable Cosmopolis: Eco-container Art Project." The container is the main carrier of the artwork, and the festival integrates artistic creation, exhibition, declaration, ritual and navigation in an attempt to broaden the vision of local citizens, according to festival organizers.
"In a world where eco-friendliness is growing ever-more important, annual festivals like this one highlight how every day objects can be used to create abstract art," said John Finnessy, CMP, Executive Director of the National Portable Storage Association, or NPSA, a nonprofit membership association dedicated to the advancement of the portable storage industry. "I've seen some of the artistic creations made from portable storage containers. It's tremendous."
Festivals like the one in Taiwan prove how portable storage is sustainable. There are many uses for portable storage, from housing to office space and from fire rescue training facilities to traditional storage. Like many vendors in the industry, participants in the Kaohsiung International Container Arts Festival are exploring new possibilities for these containers. The NPSA applauds the annual festival that seeks to open dialogue between Kaohsiung and other harbor cities of the world while using the container as a medium for artists.
