Bark Busters Partners with SPCA International to Support Operation Baghdad Pups
Bark Busters Dog Behavioral Therapists to Help Evaluate and Train Dogs Returning from War Zone in Iraq and Afghanistan to Stateside Families
Englewood, CO, April 25, 2008 --(PR.com)-- To help support the troops who have befriended pets they want to bring back home, Bark Busters (www.BarkBusters.com), the world’s largest dog training company, has expanded its relationship with SPCA International (www.SPCA.com) to support Operation Baghdad Pups, a program that provides assistance to servicemen and their families who wish to transport an animal from the war zone in the Middle East to their home in the United States. As part of this collaboration, Bark Busters Dog Behavioral Therapists will donate their training services to the animals and their caregivers to help them adjust to their new surroundings outside the war zone.
“These service men and women have all answered the call for our country,” explained Liam Crowe, CEO and Master Dog Behavioral Therapist at Bark Busters. “Partnering with SPCA International to help these animals and our troops is an honor for us. We’re more than happy to provide the assistance and training for Operation Baghdad Pups.”
Bark Busters USA and its network of dog behavioral therapists have volunteered to assist SPCA International in the screening, handling, and training of the dogs in their Operation Baghdad Pups program. In addition, Bark Busters is teaming up with SPCA International to provide a Welcome Home Kit for the dogs and their caregivers. The kit contains an assortment of goodies and training aids, helpful tips on how to introduce the dog to pets already in the household, an overview on behaviors to expect in the first 24-48 hours, and the contact information for the local Bark Busters therapist who will provide training and advice at no charge to help the pups settle into their new environment.
“We exercise great care in selecting our partners,” said Stephanie Scroggs, SPCA’s director of communications. “We’ve seen firsthand the care and skill of Bark Busters trainers and, most of all, we’ve seen the results their techniques deliver. We’re very grateful that Bark Busters is teaming up with us to help support our troops and the dogs they rescued and love. ”
SPCA International launched Operation Baghdad Pups in 2007 to help military personnel transport back home the animals they befriend in the war zone. Every animal in the program must already have a committed home before being accepted. SPCA International carefully counsels soldiers to make sure they are aware of the potential challenges they and their families might face as the animal they bring to the U.S. adjusts to living in a real home, not a war zone. The logistics of moving animals from a war zone to a new home are complicated and expensive. SPCA International covers all expenses through donations from generous supporters and animal lovers.
