Freehold, NJ, April 21, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Manuel T. Banzon, MD, an orthopedic surgeon in Freehold, New Jersey, was the first to perform a computer-assisted knee replacement surgery at CentraState Medical Center using the CI System by iOrthopedics. He will present a public lecture, “Computer-Assisted, Minimally Invasive, Total Knee Replacement,” on Thursday, April 24 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at CentraState’s new Ambulatory Campus Conference Center in Room B.
During this free public lecture, Dr. Banzon will explain the advances in knee replacement surgery and the significant benefits of computer-assisted technology. The computer system uses cameras, tracking software, and specialized instruments, “mapping” the patient’s bones and ligaments. This visualization enables the surgeon to plan incisions and align the implant more precisely. The short-term results are smaller incisions and faster healing, while the long-term results include more satisfying outcomes and, often, a longer-lasting implant with fewer complications due to the more precise alignment. Following the presentation, there will be an opportunity to ask questions. Those interested in attending should call (732) 308-0570 to register.
Dr. Banzon began his orthopedic practice in Freehold in 1979 with the philosophy of providing high-quality and compassionate patient care. Locally, he pioneered the use of minimally invasive surgery (MIS) in conjunction with computer-assisted surgery (CAS) in total joint replacement. He has presented several well-received lectures during the past year in the Monmouth County area and enjoys dispersing the “good news” related to advancements in joint health. His fellow surgeons at Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute in Freehold, New Jersey regularly give informative presentations on orthopedic health as part of their commitment to the community.
