Thomas-Somero Design Increases Charitable Donations
Hollywood-based design team Thomas-Somero Design donates over $30,000 in services to various charitable causes.
Hollywood, CA, April 28, 2008 --(PR.com)-- In support of various charities in the month of April, Thomas-Somero Design has donated complimentary design services to: The EarthCare International Foundation in the amount of $500, KOCE-PBS Television in the amount of $10,000, The Smokey Robinson Foundation in the amount of $10,000, and The Jennesse Center, Inc. in the amount of $10,000 through their participation in a combination of online, silent and live auctions.
Each charity has a different community benefit, each equally important to Thomas-Somero Design who chose to support each of them for different reasons. EarthCare International, a charity headed by Jermaine Jackson, focuses on those afflicted with AIDS and children who are in need. Jermaine recently opened a care center in Nairobi, Kenya to provide medical assistance, shelter and love for abandoned babies. “Anything to do with AIDS relief and children is especially important to us since we feel that there can never be enough attention to the needs of those afflicted both in and out of our local communities,” says partner, Brian Somero. In regards to KOCE-PBS, the team is a long-time supporter of public television and has given generously over the years due to the educational value of PBS and its stations. “There are so many children and educators who benefit from PBS programming…” says partner, Scott Thomas. He adds, “Thomas-Somero Design has always supported charities and causes that directly affect tomorrow’s adults.”
The Smokey Robinson Foundation brings to light the importance of education in today’s youth by providing funding to qualified youth through benefit concerts and other events. When Thomas-Somero Design became aware of this charity, Brian Somero, a Detroit native, was immediately drawn to not only the cause - children - but to the founder and his undeniable presence in the Motown era. “I grew up on Motown music and to see that Mr. Robinson has created this as a way to give back was incredibly moving,” Mr. Somero said.
The Jenesse Center, Inc. is the oldest domestic violence intervention program in South Los Angeles, which provides victims of domestic violence with a comprehensive, centralized base of support to assist them in addressing their immediate crisis and changing the patterns of their lives. Celebrities such as Halle Berry, Jay Leno, Jennifer Hudson and many others all donated their time to their annual Silver Rose Weekend this past weekend (April 26-28, 2008) and Thomas-Somero design offered a complimentary interior room design for a lucky silent auction bidder. “Again, the good thing about this and all of the charities in which we participate is that we always want to give back to causes that give more to those in need than we ever could do ourselves…although we’re a small firm, we know that every little bit helps,” says the generous team.
Thomas-Somero Design will continue to participate actively in the community through service donations and contributions to various charities, and will constantly add to their growing list of supported and undeniably worthy causes.
