Girls Incorporated Receives the Enterprising Women 2008 Advocacy Award
Raleigh, NC, April 30, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Monica Smiley, publisher and CEO of Enterprising Women magazine (www.enterprisingwomen.com), has announced that Girls Incorporated is the recipient of the 2008 Enterprising Women Advocacy Award. Accepting the award on behalf of Girls Inc., was its chief operating officer, Marcia Brumit Kropf, Ph.D. The Enterprising Women Advocacy Award is presented to individuals or organizations, primarily in the nonprofit sector, who have given back to women or girls in a significant way to empower them, blaze trails or open doors leading to success in business and life. Girls Inc. was recognized during the Enterprising Women of the Year Awards, Feb. 28-March 1 at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa in Lake Buena Vista, FL.
Dr. Kropf oversees the implementation of Girls Inc. strategic plan and has direct responsibility for the national services, program and training services, research IT and human resources departments. She is leading an enterprise-wide, multi-year initiative to address the needs of Latina girls aged 6 to 18. Involved in multiple women’s organizations, Dr. Kropf earned her Ph.D. in educational communication and technology from New York University.
