Daughters of Charity Health System Selects SIS Perioperative Solution

Atlanta, GA, April 30, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Daughters of Charity Health System (DCHS) has selected Surgical Information Systems (SIS) to be the perioperative system provider for four of its California hospitals. Seton Medical Center, O’Connor Hospital and Saint Louise Regional Hospital will be implementing the SIS Comprehensive Solution, and St. Vincent Medical Center, a SIS partner since 2003, will add significant upgrades to its current system.

SIS was chosen because of its proven ability to improve quality, reduce cost and increase revenue recognition by controlling lost charges, ensuring accurate scheduling processes, and by offering immediate data analysis for decision support initiatives. SIS Anesthesia, the only anesthesia system available that shares a single database with its perioperative system, will be implemented at all four facilities – along with SIS Analytics and the HFMA Peer Reviewed Rules-Based Charging.

“Daughters of Charity encompasses some of the finest physicians, nurses, staff and facilities in the state of California,” said Richard Hutsell, Chief Information Officer & Vice President of DCHS. “We ultimately chose SIS because of its dedication to the surgical space – our OR staff really identified with the system and found it intuitive and easy to use. Choosing a best of breed system means giving our clinicians the specialized tools they need to run their perioperative departments as effectively as possible.”

Ed Daihl, CEO of Surgical Information Systems, said that the company is looking forward to expanding its relationship with the medical centers in the DCHS family.

“We’re proud that our existing relationship with St. Vincent Medical Center has proven the value that our system can bring to the rest of the Daughters of Charity organization,” said Daihl. “This is a health system that truly recognizes the importance of the perioperative department. On average, the perioperative department represents 55 to 70 percent of a hospital’s total revenue, 35 percent of supply cost and is the source of 55 percent of hospital acquired infections. Our team will work hard to help them reduce operational costs, streamline operations, and assure regulatory compliance throughout each of their facilities. These efforts will help Daughters continue its mission of providing high quality care.”
