Planet Child of Cary to Host Nesting for Peace Creation Session

Planet Child of Cary will welcome Apex artist Karin Baumeister-Rehm who will host two creative art sessions as part of her Nesting for Peace project. Baumeister-Rehm will be at Planet Child on May 6th at 10 AM and again on May 8th at 4 PM as part of her efforts to bring the Nesting for Peace concept to cities outside of Apex.

Cary, NC, April 30, 2008 --(PR.com)-- In keeping with its mission to promote exceptional local talent, Planet Child of Cary will welcome Apex artist Karin Baumeister-Rehm who will host two creative art sessions as part of her Nesting for Peace project. Baumeister-Rehm will be at Planet Child as part of her efforts to bring the Nesting for Peace concept to cities outside of Apex. Participants in the Nesting for Peace art sessions will receive a birdhouse (for a small fee which covers the cost of the house), which they will decorate (supplies provided), and the end result is an individual work of art. Each birdhouse will carry a message of peace inside, and will be hung in a public location. Planet Child is currently speaking with the Town of Cary about suitable locations for a public installation.

“Nesting for Peace is a worldwide public art project calling for peace,” explains Karin Baumeister-Rehm. “I engage others in this project, through which participants decorate their own birdhouses, and each birdhouse contains a message of peace. Messages of peace are being collected from individuals throughout the world, and are printed on acid-free, biodegradable paper. The message placed in the birdhouse is meant to serve as starter nesting material, and to provide a comfortable and safe place for the young birds to grow to full maturity,” she concludes. Baumeister-Rehm’s goal is to bring the show to cities throughout the world, “to encompass the length and breadth of the planet for the good of all,” she says. Nesting for Peace’s first public installation took place on March 10th at the Apex Chamber of Commerce, and subsequent installations have occurred at the American Tobacco Trail and the Apex Community Center.

“In a time when there is so much uncertainly and unrest, whether it is political, economic or other, Planet Child is excited to partner with a local artist who carries with her a message of hope and peace,” explains Planet Child owner Edmund Hohls. “Nesting for Peace is such a simple project, yet it has the potential to have such a far-reaching and overwhelmingly positive impact. We have all heard the phrase ‘peace begins at home’, and I have no doubt Planet Child will be the first of many Cary businesses that choose to support Karin Baumeister-Rehm and sow the message of world peace.”
