Transit Systems Celebrates National Senior Move Managers Week
NASMM has declared May 11-17, National Senior Move Managers Week. TSI, a small moves specialist, has partnered with senior move managers to assist older Americans with not only the actual moving experience, but with the emotional and physical aspects downsizing and relocating.
Wayne, PA, April 30, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The National Association of Senior Move Managers (NASMM) has declared May 11-17, National Senior Move Managers Week. The theme of this 2nd annual week is “Moving Memories,” which promotes the senior move managers commitment to assisting older adults and their families, not only the actual moving experience, but with the emotional and physical aspects of sorting through and downsizing a lifetime of memories in the relocation process. Senior move managers coordinate the entire moving process, while Transit Systems (www.transitsystems.com), a small move specialist, provides seniors with a stress-free moving experience.
“Most older adults making a transition have not moved in 30, 40 or 50 years and need to downsize considerably,” said Christopher Smith, president of Transit Systems. “The entire relocation process can be overwhelming. Many people are looking for more than just a mover, they need someone who will actually listen to their needs and are interested in making their transition a smooth one. TSI walks the customer through the entire moving process and is readily available for the customer from the beginning to the end of the move.”
Adults aged 85 and above are the fastest growing segment of the US population. At the same time, social changes such as both husband and wife having very busy work schedules and family obligations have made it increasingly difficult for family caregivers to provide all of the support needed for these transitions.
According to Mary Kay Buysse, Executive Director of NASMM, “Family and friends often want to help, but there may be barriers. Adult children may be sandwiched between their parents, their careers and their own family obligations. For family members living far away, the barriers may be geographic. Some seniors have no surviving children, or their children are seniors themselves. If illness or death precipitated the move, the family may already be drained both emotionally and physically. Senior Move Management has emerged to fill the gaps and to make transitions easier for everyone involved.”
Transit Systems is a nationwide provider of small moves and less-than-truckload shipping services. TSI offers seniors experience, knowledge and dependability and have been in the moving industry since 1989. TSI’s senior move specialists will handle furniture, boxes and antiques with the utmost respect and care. Transit Systems has been a NASMM Industry Partner since 2007.
