University of Florida Researcher Investigates Dogs That Know When Their Owners Are Coming Home
Canine researcher, Dr. Clive Wynne is exploring whether animal cognition may extend further than previously imagined. While he remains skeptical of psi phenomena such as telepathy, Dr. Wynne believes further research into the dog-human bond is necessary to better understand this phenomenon.
Del Mar, CA, May 01, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The University of Florida’s Canine Cognition and Behavior Lab has received a research grant to investigate the human-animal bond and its implications for human consciousness research. Dr. Clive Wynne is the lead researcher on the project:
“I am thrilled to be involved with what I hope will be the definitive study into how dogs know when their owners are coming home. This is important work that will deepen our understanding of the dog-human bond.”
The grant was awarded by Alex Tsakiris, of Skeptiko.com as part an ongoing effort to support research into controversial science:
“… it’s great to have Dr. Wynne take an interest in this research. I hope this marks the beginning of more level-headed inquiry into areas of science that hold great interest to the public, but have been taboo for many researchers.”
Alex Tsakiris is one of a group at www.Skeptiko.com/blog replicating the research of Dr. Rupert Sheldrake. This research examines the telepathic link between dog and their owners. Despite scientific and anecdotal evidence, many scientists remain skeptical of these capabilities. Researchers hope to overcome this skepticism with their new findings.
