Joe Dumars Fieldhouse Announces 2008 Summer Camp Schedule
Shelby Township, MI, May 01, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Joe Dumars Fieldhouse (www.joedumarsfieldhouse.com) announced opening of registration for its largest summer camp schedule ever.
Beginning the week of June 16 and going through the week of Aug. 25, more than 80 different camps are being offered for children ages 18 months to 17 years. These programs range from the physical to the practical to the outrageous.
Basketball camps hosted by members of the Detroit Pistons are among the highlights of the traditional sports camps. Budding basketball stars can learn from two of the NBA’s most promising players at the “Rookie Camp with Arron Afflalo & Rodney Stuckey” during the week of July 21.
Three weeks later, it will be time to “Take Your Game to the Max with Jason Maxiell.” Taking place at both the Fieldhouse’s Shelby Township location and an auxiliary site at Bloomfield Hills Middle School during the week of Aug. 11, campers will have the opportunity to learn the most important elements of the game of basketball.
Camps focusing on volleyball, baseball, football, soccer, roller hockey and cheerleading also are among the more than 30 traditional sports camps on the schedule.
The Joe Dumars Fieldhouse summer camp schedule also features several programs beyond the sports realm. From a practical standpoint, those seeking to get an early start in the business world can learn such skills as how to run a restaurant, be an entrepreneur or become a better babysitter.
“Radio Controlled Chaos!” is among the offerings on the outrageous end. Children will be provided with skill and age appropriate cars to assemble, decorate and tune up to maximize performance. The camp culminates with a series of races on the facility’s indoor course and new 80 feet x 140 feet outdoor, banked oval raceway.
“Our goal is to provide the ultimate experience for children of all ages,” said Brian Siegel, founder and managing partner of the Joe Dumars Fieldhouse. “By expanding our schedule past the traditional sports offerings and provide campers with an avenue to channel their creative and practical skills, we now have something available for every child in the family.”
