Salt Lake City, UT, May 09, 2008 --(PR.com)-- South Valley Unitarian Celebrates 25 Years.
South Valley Unitarian Universalist Society is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a weekend of activities, May 9, 10 and 11, 2008.
Reverend William Sinkford, president of the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations, will preach at a special Celebration Sunday service Sunday, May 11 at 10:30 a.m. He will be joined by many former ministers, members and friends of the congregation to mark this milestone. The service will also feature special music.
Singer-songwriter and activist Judy Fjell will perform at the church for a music and desserts program on Friday night, May 9 at 7:00 p.m. Fjell has written and recorded over 100 songs on 15 CDs under her own label, Honey Pie Music. A $5 donation will be requested at the door.
A wine and cheese social with past ministers and members will take place on Saturday, May 10 at 6:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary. The event will also feature artwork and musical performances by members and friends of the congregation as well as memorabilia from the church’s years in the valley.
As a Unitarian Universalist congregation, South Valley has roots deep in religious liberalism, exploring life’s “big questions,” and encouraging members in their personal spiritual journeys. The programs and events of the church are meant to help people grow in curiosity, spirit, and community, while honoring a diversity of beliefs and experiences.
Unitarian Universalists believe that each person has a unique gift to offer the world and seeks to nurture and celebrate those gifts. The congregation welcomes young and old, families and singles, all the colors and cultures of the human race, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and straight people.
All events are open to the public and “kid-friendly”.
All events will take place at South Valley, 6876 Highland Dr. More info can be found at www.svuus.org or by calling 801-944-9723.
