Clothing Swap Pairs Women Losing Weight with Women Seeking Jobs at Inches-A-Weigh in Manchester

Sometimes when losing weight, buying new clothes is not economically feasible. A weight-loss center comes up with an idea that helps its members while also helping a local non-profit.

Manchester, NH, May 11, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Susan Mitchell, owner of women's weight-loss center Inches-A-Weigh, was struck with an idea after listening to some of her clients talk about how losing weigh necessitated a constantly revolving wardrobe.

"I thought, these women are working so hard to get healthy, but buying new clothes every month because the old ones are too big is just not economically feasible," said Mitchell. "I thought if we had a clothing swap, women could exchange the pieces that didn't fit anymore without breaking the bank. That way, they can save their money for the end of their journey-when they reach their goal weight."

Taking the plan one step further, Mitchell pledged to donate any unused clothing from the swap to Dress for Success New Hampshire, a non-profit organization that provides professional attire and career development to disadvantaged women.

The swap, for clients of Inches-A-Weigh, will take place at the South Willow Street location the week of May 12th. Any unused clothing will then be donated to Dress for Success. The donated clothing will be given to women who are transitioning into the workplace, often from public assistance, who don't have the means to purchase business apparel.

Mitchell said the act of donating clothing that no longer fits serves a dual purpose for her clients. "We're all in this together, and we all have one thing in common--our drive to reach our goals and live our dreams. By swapping clothing, we continue to support one another in those goals. That we can help those less fortunate at the same time just makes it even more special," she said.
