Paul Wharton to Host the TV Special "Where the Elite Meet" on the CW
Paul Wharton, DC fashion icon hosts television exclusive on the US vs. Italy Polo match supporting the "Journey For The Cure" leukemia charity. The special feature highlights the polo match with segments on the rich and famous including athletes, chefs, bands, designers, dignitaries and elected representatives.
Washington, DC, May 11, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Highlights of the Land Rover America’s Polo Cup which occurs the weekend of May 9-10 in Leesburg, VA, will be featured in a locally-produced special on WDCW-TV, The CW Washington, on Saturday, May 17th at 8pm. The special “Land Rover America’s Polo Cup: Where the Elite Meet” will be re-broadcast on Sunday, May 18th at 10:30am. “Where the Elite Meet” can also be seen at anytime on The CW Washington website: www. theCWDC.com, beginning Saturday, May 17th.
Local DC fashion icon and WDCW-TV’s TrenDC Web Host, Paul Wharton, will host this special, which promises to be a spectacular convergence of cultures as the US Polo Team hosts Italy at the historic Morven Park Equestrian Center. Wharton will also link to the special on his new modeling website: www.evolutionlook.com starting May 17th as well.
This WDCW-TV exclusive special will also feature visiting dignitaries, elected representatives, fashion lovers, horse fanciers, polo fans, and music devotees….all of whom have one thing in common: a desire to be part of a world-class celebration that supports the popular charitable foundation, The Journey for the Cure.
The highlights of the special will include the preparation of some of the sumptuous foods – featuring Chef Aaron McCloud of Vintage 50 in Leesburg, VA and Chef Enzo Sebraro of D’Acqua in Washington, DC - that will be displayed at the kick-off festivities. Then watch for some revealing footage as Paul Wharton provides rare behind-the-scenes and front-row-center looks at the exclusive American & Italian gala and fashion show. Wharton will also interview Federica Balestra, daughter of Renato Balestra whose spring collection will be featured in the runway show. There’s music interspersed throughout the show from the Gipsy Kings – Family and Italy’s hottest tenor Vittoro Grigolo.
Of course, this America’s Polo Cup special would not be complete without…Polo. Charlie Muldoon, Director of Polo Operations, will offer a special abbreviated play-by-play of the days’ match. He will also provide a primer to WDCW viewers of all the basics as to what to look for in a polo match. Cup Founder and Chair Tareq Salahi will then discuss their efforts to support the beneficiary of the event - The Journey for the Cure Foundation, which provides science grants and other funding for the MS Society, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Food, Fashion, Glamour, Parties, Glitterati, Horses, Polo, Music….and it all concludes as fireworks burst upon the breathtaking Virginia countryside.
