New Report from Principled Technologies Shows VMware Horizon and VMware App Volumes Offers Advantages Over Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops
In competitive head-to-head testing, Principled Technologies (PT) found VMware Horizon and VMware App Volumes scaled virtual desktops faster and enabled simulated users to log into virtual desktops in less time.
Durham, NC, August 18, 2022 --(PR.com)-- A new report from PT might be of interest to IT admins managing Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) for remote workers. In three phases of hands-on testing, the performance and ease-of-use VMware Horizon and VMware App Volumes was compared to that of Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops. In all three phases, VMware Horizon offered advantages over its competitor.
In the first phase of testing, PT compared the time and number of steps to deploy non-persistent virtual desktops using both solutions. The VMware Horizon VDI required 29.6 percent fewer steps and scaled virtual desktops faster than the Citrix solution. In the second phase of testing, VMware App Volumes required 14 major tasks to deliver an app to a virtual desktop and Citrix App Layering required 27 major tasks. In the third phase of testing, PT used the LoginVSI Login Enterprise benchmark to assess virtual app performance and login times. The VMware Horizon solution needed 20.8 percent less time than its competitor for simulated users to login, which could mean remote workers would spend less time waiting in a VMware Horizon VDI environment.
Reducing the workload associated with managing virtual desktops and improving the end-user experience for remote workers will likely remain a priority as the work-from-home trend continues to be popular. According to the report, “using VMware Horizon for your VDI environment could save time for your VDI admins and help get non-persistent virtual desktops ready for users sooner.”
