Center for Technology Research and Commercialization (C-TRAC) Partners with Cyber Institute

Colorado Springs, CO, December 12, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Two nonprofits with a technology focus on innovation and collaboration recently partnered to work with the Air Force Cyber Innovation Center’s CyberWorx project to advance cybersecurity for the Department of Defense. Taylor Rodriguez and Andrew Vance are co-founders of a local nonprofit with a national reach.

Rodriguez has deep roots in the community. Her father was a career United States Air Force Noncommissioned Officer having last served at the U.S. Air Force Academy. This enabled her to graduate from the Air Academy and the University of Colorado. She said that her family’s Air Force background and her position as the Communications Chairwoman for the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) make her nonprofit’s collaboration with the Air Force and other defense nonprofits an extraordinarily natural fit. She says that, “Our cyber nonprofit will bring not only our commitment and passion due to our shared roots, but the Cyber Institute will also bring our combined expertise of over 20 years in technology to innovate cyber perspectives for the Air Force.”

Vance’s roots as a former officer with the U.S. Army and as a Research Fellow and Chief Cyber Analyst with the Defense Information Systems Agency align him extremely well with Rodriguez to work with C-TRAC and the Air Force’s CyberWorx. He said that Colorado Springs is, and historically been, an innovation hub. Combining that with a large military presence and defense industrial base, collaborating with partners makes sense and ensures a greater collective impact of innovations. He works with C-TRAC to involve more industry in collaboration with CyberWorx. In a recent news article, he is quoted as saying, “Hopefully participants will lend new insight, with people sharing what cyber means to them and develop models applicable and relevant to everyone in cyber,” (https://www.csbj.com/news/daily /ctrac-calling-industry-to-partner-in-cyberworx-course/article_b168bb04-ca0e-5448-b0b5-3cc0709ee67e.html). “I enjoy working with young officers at the Air Force Academy. Their energy and enthusiasm are inspiring, but they also bring fresh perspectives towards technology development and implementation that might not otherwise be shared without our public-private partnership,” Vance said.
