Cyber Summer Camp for Girls Hosted by Space Foundation and Cyber Institute Attracts Colorado Youth

Denver, CO, July 10, 2018 --(PR.com)-- The Cyber Insitute and the Space Foundation have partnered to bring free cyber summer camps to groups who traditionally don’t pursue cybersecurity careers. One age group that many often are forgotten about when it comes to cyber education and careers is youth. In partnership with the NSA’s GenCyber program, Cyber Institute hosts Cyber Summer Camps for girls and minorities in Southern Colorado. This summer serves as the pilot period for camps in Colorado in co-partnership with the Space Foundation’s Discovery Center Space Unites program which aims to tie space, STEM, cyber, and engineering educational aspects together. “Engaging young girls and minorities in cyber are necessary to allow them to see their future in a cyber career,” says Taylor Vance. The Space Foundation’s Chief Operating Officer, Shelli Brunswick, spoke with the campers about space careers and their connection to cyber. She goes on to explain how youth are naturally drawn to adventure and space exploration. Brunswick believes cyber is the next frontier of space exploration and much needs to be done to ensure future explorers are safe and secure. Cyber Institute plans to expand these cyber camps with the help of academic and industry partners. Their expansion of the camps will include a Cyber Camp for Native Americans in Southern Colorado, working with Ft. Lewis College and New York University. Cyber Institute hopes to make a difference in children’s lives through cyber.
