Ridgefield, CT, May 17, 2008 --(PR.com)-- David Williams, CEO of Make-A-Wish Foundation, talks on The CEO Show with Robert Reiss about compassion driven by purpose and how this has enabled the granting of over 160,000 wishes to children having life threatening conditions – 13,000 just in the past year. Williams also discusses the importance mission focus for profit-making as well as non-profit organizations: In his words, “Great corporations … know exactly what their business is, what they’re good at and what they’re not in the business to do.”
Williams explains that working with families in granting wishes is “a wonderfully fulfilling endeavor” for the volunteer, starting with involvement at the local Make-A-Wish chapter level. Williams then discusses with Reiss the variety of ways people can get involved with granting wishes: gifts in the form of personal time, financial donations, or gifting-in-kind of goods or services; and he concludes by talking about the Make-A-Wish endowment campaign as a great opportunity for those who can contribute to pass on a legacy of giving to their children and grandchildren.
In addition to giving examples of wishes granted to children, Williams emphasizes Make-A-Wish’s need for gifts of frequent-flyer miles. Last year donors gave over 360 million frequent-flyer-miles to The Foundation, but 2 billion miles can be easily used for transporting children to places where their wishes will be fulfilled.
