New Segway Dealership in Raleigh Provides Alternative to High Gas Prices
Triangle Segway offers the next-generation of mobility with its energy-efficient, eco-friendly Segway Personal Transporters, which are a money-saving transportation option for short trips around town.
Raleigh, NC, May 18, 2008 --(PR.com)-- With gas prices at record highs, consumers are taking a closer look at the energy-efficient Segway Personal Transporter as a money-saving transportation solution. Triangle Segway, which recently opened its dealership in Raleigh's historic City Market, has given many local residents their first taste of riding a Segway by way of their guided tours of downtown Raleigh.
“As a society, we have to look at modern-day alternatives like the Segway for getting around town,” says Todd Masinter, who, along with his wife, Sandy, owns Triangle Segway. “We’re so programmed to hop into our cars to drive everywhere, even just down the street or a couple of miles to the local mall. Those short trips are ideal for the Segway PT, which is 11 times more energy efficient than the average American car.”
The self-balancing, battery-powered Segway i2 gets up to 24 miles on a single battery charge – the equivalent of 480 city blocks – and gives consumers an eco-friendly way to do their short-distance commutes, and sail past gas stations and their high gas prices.
The EPA estimates that Americans take 900 million car journeys every day, and that half of those trips are less than five miles long and made by solo drivers. If just 10 percent of those car trips were replaced with the zero-emission Segway PT, there would be 6.2 million fewer gallons of gas consumed and 286 million fewer pounds of CO2 emitted everyday.
“People are discovering that the Segway is a practical commuting option that’ll quickly pay for itself. With a Segway, you don’t have costly car maintenance and auto insurance premiums. You’ll no longer pay for parking, and you won’t spend your paycheck on $4-a-gallon gas,” explains Masinter.
“Taking one of our guided tours is a great way to test drive a Segway and see the sights of downtown Raleigh at the same time. No matter how many times you may have walked or driven our route, you’ll be seeing it in a whole new way as you glide it on a Segway PT,” says Masinter.
Triangle Segway is the only authorized Segway dealer and Segway tour operator in North Carolina's Triangle area. Its showroom offers the latest i2 and x2 models, Segway accessories, and is also the starting point for its popular downtown Raleigh Segway tours, which are fully narrated and highlight Raleigh’s points of interest and historic landmarks.
