Baxa Web Site and Environmental Stewardship Programs Selected as Finalists for the Sixth Annual American Business Awards National Competition
Baxa Corporation announces its selection as a finalist in two categories for the 2008 American Business Awards. The company was chosen for Best Web Site and Best Corporate Environmental Responsibility Program. The American Business Awards recognize excellence at all levels of business – from management and sales to marketing and communications activities. Hailed as “the business world’s version of the Oscars,” The American Business Awards are the only national, all-encompassing awards program.
Denver, CO, May 19, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Two Baxa Corporation entries have been selected as finalists in their respective categories for the sixth annual American Business Awards – for overall design in the Best Web Site category and for Best Corporate Environmental Responsibility Program. The American Business Awards recognize excellence at all levels of business – from management and sales to marketing and communications activities. Hailed as “the business world’s version of the Oscars” (New York Post , April 27, 2005), The American Business Awards are the only national, all-encompassing awards program honoring great performances in business.
“These awards promote the very best in American business today, and we’re honored to stand among the other distinguished finalists,” notes Baxa CEO Greg Baldwin. The 2008 awards program features the first-ever award for the Best Corporate Environmental Responsibility Program. Finalists in this category with Baxa Corporation include InterContinental Hotels, John Hancock, and the Philadelphia Eagles – all companies taking action to protect the environment and promote environmental stewardship in their day-to-day operations.
As a healthcare products provider, Baxa strives to choose the most efficient materials for its products – those that have the greatest potential for patient safety and clinical efficacy and the least potential for adverse environmental impact. In its American Business Awards submission, the company outlined a number of ‘green’ initiatives for further reducing its environmental impact and supporting corporate goals for environmental stewardship. The company’s 2007 recycling efforts resulted in significant environmental savings, including: 288 cu yd of landfill airspace; 1,399 mature trees; 38,110 gallons of oil 576,170 gallons of water.
The Baxa Web site redesign project launched in January of 2008. The new site addresses customer feedback on desired site content and provides a better user experience through increased technical content and more in-depth product specification and demonstration materials.
The Baxa entries were judged among more than 2,600 entries in more than 40 categories. Finalists were selected by business professionals nationwide over five weeks of preliminary judging. Members of the Awards' Board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors and their staffs will select the winners of the Stevie awards from among the finalists the week of May 19th.
Nicknamed Stevie for the Greek word meaning ‘crowned,’ the American Business Awards design is from the same company that makes the Oscar® and other major awards. Stevie winners will be announced during a gala event at New York’s Marriott Marquis Hotel on Thursday, June 12th. In keeping with their ‘green’ theme for this year’s event, a portion of each ticket sold for the gala will be contributed to the Alliance for Climate Protection, a nonprofit, nonpartisan effort founded by Nobel laureate and former Vice President Al Gore that seeks to halt global warming by educating people that the climate crisis is both urgent and solvable.
