Impulse Drum Corps to Perform Halftime for L.A. Lakers
Impulse Drum and Bugle Corps has been hand selected as the Halftime Act for the 1st game of the NBA Western Conference Finals to air nationally on TNT May 21, 2008 at 6pm for the 15 time NBA Champion Los Angeles Lakers.
Buena Park, CA, May 22, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Impulse Drum & Bugle Corps has been hand selected as the Halftime Act for the 1st game of the NBA’s Western Conference Finals to air nationally on TNT. The Wednesday May 21st performance continues the Impulse push to offer creative performance opportunities for its members and staff.
Impulse was established in 1998 as a musical youth organization to provide the youth of Southern California opportunities to perform and entertain audiences with their unique brand of musical athletics. This year marks the 10-year anniversary of Impulse and they have been working diligently to continue this tradition.
According to Impulse sound engineer Edward “Beno” Morris, who helped arrange for the performance, “Impulse has made several key management decisions to facilitate sustainable growth of the organization.” Impulse is working to not only be an excellent Drum Corps, but a highly sought after and entertaining performance group for corporate functions and local sporting events. The addition of the Lakers halftime show builds on the refreshing new attitude the management and staff is creating at Impulse.
Impulse is also the official Drum Corps for the Palm Springs Power, which is a semi-pro baseball team. Impulse will be the featured entertainer for the Home Opener, the 4th of July Spectacular and wrapping up the season on July 26, 2008 with the All Star Game and Home Run Derby. All of this and Impulse will also be performance at Six Flags Magic Mountain just prior to leaving on their final tour.
“Were going to be pretty busy, but we’ll have a lot of fun too. Our goal is to have fun playing music with some of the best talent in Southern California. Performing in front of large crowds is a great opportunity to show case this talent and at the same time gain exposure for the program and the activity, said percussion director and arranger Niko Jasniewicz.”
Impulse was preparing for a performance for the Arthritis Foundation’s annual “Walk for a Cure” event in Orange County, CA when they got the news about the Lakers invitation. “We are extremely excited to perform at our first national sporting event. I imagine it will be pretty hype performing in front of 19,000 screaming sports fans,” said snare player Chris Rogers.
Impulse is celebrating their 10th Anniversary in 2008 and is very excited at the level of enthusiasm of the members and staff over the new opportunities and direction the program is taking.
