Keith David to Host the Bank of America Celebration at the Station in Kansas City
Kansas City, KS, May 22, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The Midwest's most popular Memorial Day event, Bank of America Celebration at the Station, returns for its sixth year to Kansas City's Union Station on Sunday, May 25. Hosted by legendary actor and musician Keith David, The Bank of America Celebration at the Station features Music Director Michael Stern and the Kansas City Symphony performing familiar patriotic music against the backdrop of historic Union Station, with a finale of blazing fireworks above the National WWI Museum at Liberty Memorial.
People are most familiar with Keith David from his impressive body of film and television work. This Emmy Award winning thespian has appeared in blockbuster hits such as "Mr. and Mrs. Smith", "There's Something About Mary" and "Armageddon" just to name a few. He also received a Tony nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a musical for his performance in "Jelly's Last Jam". However, David is also a rising star on the music scene, actively pursuing his passion by performing with his band across the US. Weighting heavily on standards and classics, David's music also manages to infuse some originals. ”The songwriting and production process is something I truly enjoy,” says David “I like to immerse myself with talented instrumentalists and create something timeless and memorable”.
In addition to his hosting duties, David will be performing the Nat King Cole classic "Unforgettable" and will read letters from soldiers in Iraq.
The Symphony takes the stage at 7:30PM for a rousing set of orchestral music to celebrate all things American, including the 1812 Overture, complete with live firing cannons! At 9:15PM, all heads will turn to the sky over the National WWI Museum at Liberty Memorial for a stunning display of choreographed fireworks, bursting to the beat of patriotic music. This fireworks display is one of the largest staged in the Midwest.
