Ms. Universal Outstanding Woman of Achievement 2009 is Crowned

Dallas, TX, May 22, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Staci Shands was crowned the new Ms. Universal Outstanding Woman of Achievement 2009 on April 17th, by the Outstanding Women in America (O.W.A.) National Honor Society Pageant Organization Produced by Virtue International Pageants.

Ms. Shands is the former Ms. Liberty America International 2007, and Ms. New York 2006. She received accreditation for the Ms. Universal O.W.A. title for her incredible score of 35,000 points for personal and professional achievements which entail including Career accomplishments, talents, honors, community service, and Degrees earned.

Ms. Universal O.W.A.’s platform includes working with the Homeless. She is a junior board member with Bowery Residents’ Committee, Inc. (BRC) a not-for-profit establishment that helps the destitute reclaim their lives. As a survivor of sibling abuse, she is Very passionate about her newest platform which is to provide Support to other survivors along with bringing recognition about the Seriousness of this problem to parents and the rest of our society.

Other community service activities dear to Ms. Shand’s heart Involve spreading HIV/AIDS awareness, being a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (P.E.T.A.) As a type 1 diabetic, she is a spokesperson for The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (J.D.R.F.) and a Volunteer with Divabetic, a diabetes outreach organization who Goals are designed to promote a positive attitude and help build Esteem among people living with diabetes today. She was also an Agriculture volunteer with the United States Peace Corps in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Central Africa.

Ms. Shands is a public relations executive and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Telecommunications from Morgan State University. In addition to working in corporate America, she Founded her own publicity firm called S & S Communications, and is a successful press agent for artists, authors and non-profit Organizations.

Ms. Universal O.W.A. spends her spare time creating delicious organic meals, collecting rare books, attending Broadway plays, Jazz music and picking apples in the fall.
