Innovative Photography/Poetry Book Illustrates Universal Concerns
Boise, ID, May 23, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Artist and poet Athena Alexa’s newest creative endeavor is a mixed media book titled Earth Prayers, Angels and Dreams: Earth’s Eternal Child. Along the line of Anne Geddes but more “heavenly” in style, Alexa offers a celestial garden of children, utilizing a new technique called baby-alive digital canvas painting. Each image is followed by an original poem that reflects the voice of an angelic child. Her writings speak of sorrow and hope at the present condition of our Earth and humanity:
The Angel of Light
He can see into our world
Sad little angel of light
He is afraid of the dark
Through the window of our past
The bombs burn his eyes
With tears
His dreams are filled with creatures
That He does not understand
He cries out to God
To take him back to the light
The darkness fills him with fright
With a pain that he will never forget
The scars of war will brake his little
Angel heart
The angel of light is afraid of the dark
His tears burn for the children of earth.
Tomorrow’s memories
They linger in the air
Just outside my window
Time promises
To bring the magic of another day
Each day
I sense the momentum of change
Inspiriting the moments
With her magic
A sea of possibility
Swirls in the molecules
Of newborn moments of time
Dancing in the rain
And basking in the sun
I feel the days getting brighter
With the warmth of tomorrow
Shining into my window
Beams the glory of tomorrow’s memories.
Each baby-alive digital canvas painting is created from a digital image and transformed into what resembles an oil painting when set to canvas. The book’s photographic art combined with Alexa’s visionary poetry create a vibrant combination.

Reviews for Earth Prayers Angels And Dreams

Athena's messages are clear and concise, profound and yet simple. Optimistic and grounded. The whole book serves as a reminder of what we are and who we can be; this is so easily forgettable in the incredible and often overwhelming age in which we live. Athena's book and messages are further embellished by her striking and effective artwork - in this time of mass-produced, production-line mainstream talent, it is refreshing to experience work of such unique voice and vision. Some of the lines are so candid, it is almost like looking into your own heart and soul - you can't help but think: "I have thought this, or felt like this". Perhaps we should take time to see the world through more child-like eyes. "Earth Prayers, Angels and Dreams" can show us how. This book is great for either reading cover to cover, or dipping into when time is short: either way, you are bound to come away with a profound message and an altered viewpoint. I can't rate this work highly enough; it is a strong, bold and beautiful debut piece and I look forward to seeing where Athena's imagination travels in future publications."
