Just Cause, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) Charitable Organization Founded by Lorrie King.
Atlanta, GA, May 23, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Just Cause, Inc., a Clarkston-based charitable organization, received a Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) Community Grant from Catholic Charities Atlanta for its Project E3: Educate, Empower, Employ. CCHD Community Grants are awarded to smaller community organizations in order to support projects which are created with leadership and input from low-income people and are directed at changing the social and public policy systems that contribute to poverty.
Upon receiving the grant, Just Cause, Inc. founder and director, Lorrie King, remarked, “We are excited to have this financial assistance so that our organization can help empower people to navigate what can sometimes be a daunting system for gaining meaningful employment. Project E3 is meant to open again the doors of possibility for newly arrived refugee and immigrant communities.”
The goals of Project E3 are to:
1. Prepare individuals for entering a competitive marketplace, by providing job readiness workshops;
2. Move individuals currently employed in minimum-wage or working poor jobs into positions that match both their skill and education levels;
3. Assist individuals who desire further vocational and academic training with placement and application processes.
Activities include assistance with gathering educational transcripts and training certificates from the country of origin and their submittal for US equivalency certification, resume writing workshops, assistance with resume preparation, dress for success and job etiquette workshops, tutoring in basic computer skills and phone etiquette, provision of MARTA Breeze cards for securing interview transportation, securing bicycles for individuals interested in alternative transportation, enrollment in English classes that fit current lifestyle and schedule (if further instruction is needed), and the expansion of the Just Cause clothing closet through in-kind donations to include more professional attire.
Just Cause, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to addressing disparities within the realms of HIV/AIDS, refugee/immigrant empowerment, genocide survivorship and human rights. The organization partners with grassroots organizations and community leaders stateside and abroad to co-design and implement culturally appropriate interventions. Just Cause also advocates for various immigrant communities, in order to raise external public awareness and bolster internal empowerment of the individual and the collective.
