Principled Technologies Releases Two Studies Comparing the Oracle Database Performance of Dell PowerEdge R7625 Servers with PERC 12 to Legacy Systems
In hands-on testing, PT found that the Dell PowerEdge R7625 server with PowerEdge RAID Controller (PERC) 12 handled more database transactions than both a previous-gen Dell PowerEdge R7525 server and an HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9 server.
Durham, NC, February 28, 2023 --(PR.com)-- Upgrading to servers with the latest technology can boost online transaction processing (OLTP) workloads, allowing organizations to support more customers doing business at the same time. Principled Technologies (PT) tested the Oracle Database performance of a new Dell PowerEdge R7625 server with PERC 12 compared to both a previous-generation Dell PowerEdge R7525 server with PERC 11 and a legacy HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9 server with Smart Array P440ar Controller. PT found that the PowerEdge R7625 server offered improved performance compared to both older servers.
According to the study vs. HPE, “Our tests showed that the PowerEdge R7625 server with PERC 12 handled more new orders per minute and supported more virtual machines (VMs) running this workload than the ProLiant DL380 Gen9. By coupling a RAID controller that communicates with storage faster with the latest AMD EPYC processors, the Dell PowerEdge R7625 with PERC 12 can increase Oracle transactions and host more VMs, showing the potential value of moving to the new solution rather than running older HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9 servers.”
According to the study vs. the previous-generation PowerEdge R7525 server, “In part because the PERC 12 allows the server to communicate faster with the internal storage the databases use, the updated PowerEdge R7625 with new 4th Gen AMD EPYC processors offered better Oracle Database performance than its predecessor in the same server line. This makes it a strong upgrade target for organizations seeking to get stronger performance for their Oracle Database workloads.”
