Green Home Growing in Oil City

Calgary, Canada, April 02, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Follow two newlyweds blog about the highs and lows of trying to build an eco-friendly nest in the heart of Canada’s oil capital – Calgary, Alberta.

Although the energy-rich and increasingly affluent western provinces of Canada are not the first place one tends to think of when it comes to low-energy homes, there is a growing interest in learning about green technologies and energy conservation.

With stories ranging from organic gardens to recycled rubber shingles, www.ramsayhome.com combines a project diary with an eclectic collection of online stories and links. The goal of the site is to help others who may be thinking of building with green materials but do not know where go for more information.

While the project is still in its infancy, the vision is to build an environmentally responsible, small foot-print house that blends into Calgary’s historical neighbourhood of Ramsay, just outside the downtown core. The house will be primarily made of concrete with low-energy heating technology. The website is updated daily with content such as site reports, tips for home builders, eco-friendly interiors and environmentally responsible suppliers.
