One Survivor's Journey of Healing
Business woman reads from memoirs and leads an open discussion of how she survived an abduction and sexual assault. Free and open to the public.
Newark, DE, April 02, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Jessi LaCosta joins the University of Delaware’s Office of Women’s Affairs on Wednesday evening, April 5th at 7:00pm for Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Using storytelling she offers up pictures of a traumatic night she endured as a young woman. The reading will follow with an open question/answer discussion.
LaCosta, a communications coach, will recount how at sixteen, leaving her part-time job at the mall, she faced a gun at her head and a man climbing into her car. During her abduction she engaged her communication and story-telling abilities to assess the situation and stay alive. She reveals how she found her inner strength, learned to cope, and became a survivor.
LaCosta, a current resident of Wilmington, Delaware, works with others to develop unique communication styles as tools for succeeding in life personally and professionally. She is a guest speaker on many topics including brand communications, public relations, personal branding and surviving violent assaults.
