Bakersfield, CA, May 27, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Online fashionistas witnessed the opening of the anticipated OohLaLuxe.com women's fashion boutique, launched Wednesday, May 22nd, by the store's owner and buyer Kimberly Lawson.
The Bakersfield, Calif. resident, who is a 2007 graduate of the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles gained a following for her eye for style months in advance by blogging the entire process of launching a web boutique months before it opened. The shop has a small but well-edited selection of clothing, carrying well-known brands such as Va Va and Voom by Joy Han, and also up-and-coming labels like Plastic Island, Jae Basilio, Egoist and Cohen Camden Jewelry.
Lawson's goal is to help dress stylish women who put thought into each and every outfit they wear. "I try to pick only the most detailed, but still wearable, pieces from each collection. And of course, the most flattering," she says about the buying process. "The type of woman who would shop at my boutique, her day style is casual glamour. Even if she's just wearing jeans, they're probably well-tailored, worn with heels and a cute blouse."
She further elaborates on the Ooh La Luxe! customer, saying, "Most of us have that one friend who always looks great despite the occasion, is always put together and has the most unique pieces. She would shop at OohLaLuxe.com."
The current Spring/Summer collection that is now on sale at the boutique includes a wide variety of cocktail and day dresses, mostly from Voom by Joy Han, as well as flirty skirts from Plastic Island and sexy, light-weight knitwear courtesy of Jae Basilio.
"Our prices range from about $80 to $260, most of it falling somewhere in the middle", Lawson adds. "I'm very picky when choosing higher-priced pieces; I wouldn't want my customers stuck with something generic for a high price. So I make sure every piece pays attention to detail, is fashion forward and high quality."
Being no stranger to the internet world should come in handy for this budding young entrepreneur of style. Lawson also works as a celebrity and fashion blogger/freelance writer. For over two years, she has been at the helm of her successful Girls Talkin' Smack celebrity blog, and her past writing gigs include a stint with the Oxygen Network, among many others.
"Blogging fashion is actually great market research; your readers often tell you what trends they like and which they don't," Lawson said. "And blogging about celebrities often shows you what not to wear."
Her technical knowledge also helped in building the site; Lawson created many of the graphics and did all of the site coding on her own.
The women's designer boutique is now open for business at OohLaLuxe.com. Lawson is available for interviews and other press inquiries.
