BlimpShots Really Taking Off

Philadelphia, PA, May 29, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Geocentric Productions, Inc. last year introduced a low-altitude aerial photography service called BlimpShots. Originally intended for the residential real estate market, BlimpShots have been able to fill a need in numerous other markets.

Bill Breish, President of Geocentric Productions reports that his company has been asked to fly the blimp and take photographs for close-up roof inspections, to show what condo buyers will see from their window in a yet to be built 50 story Manhattan high rise building and to show awnings from a unique perspective. The blimp has been flown at events such as the MS 150 City to Shore Bike Tour and also indoors at a chamber of commerce business expo and realty trade show.

Most traditional aerial photography is done from an airplane or helicopter. The FAA rules require that these aircraft fly no lower than 1,000 feet. The resulting photographs show mostly roofs and little of the sides of a building. The blimp that Geocentric flies, however, starts at ground level and goes up to 500 feet. This lower altitude means that the photographs will show the façade of the building as well as the surrounding area.

Marketing and advertising people are constantly looking for eye-catching images and BlimpShots certainly fits that description. Another feature that makes BlimpShots so attractive is the low cost – about one quarter of what the cost would be to hire an airplane and pilot.
