Travel Industry Charity Pub Quiz Hosted by Simon Calder Raises Over £5,200 for the Family Holiday Association
A travel industry pub quiz hosted by Simon Calder, was won by a Hotels.com team and raised over £5,200 for the Family Holiday Association, the national charity giving a break to families in need.
London, United Kingdom, May 31, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The travel industry raised over £5,200 for charity on Tuesday when teams competed in a charity pub quiz in aid of the Family Holiday Association, the national charity working to give a break to families experiencing difficult circumstances.
Sponsored by Gail Kenny Executive Search, Malta Tourism Authority and Teletext Holidays and hosted by travel journalist Simon Calder, the event raised enough to give around 10 families in need the chance to enjoy a break away by the sea.
After a close battle for the trophy, Hotels.com’s ‘Wake up happy!’ team won in a tie-break from Hills Balfour Synergy’s ‘Snow Chance’.
They were closely followed by Titan Travel’s ‘The Titanics’ in third place, who won a playoff with ‘The Quattro Formaggi’ from Hextalls LLP.
Hotels.com Communications Director EMEA Alison Couper said, “It was a fantastic and fun evening, with just a tiny hint of competition between the teams.
“The Family Holiday Association is an extremely worthy charity and one that deserves wide support from the travel industry; it was great to see so many teams from all areas of the travel world there to support them,” she said.
“We are already planning to defend our title next year!”
