Habitat Newark Appoints New Executive Director
David R. Zurheide, a veteran of more than 19 years in the home building and construction industry, has been appointed Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity Newark, effective immediately.
Newark/Essex County, NJ, May 31, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Zurheide who recently assumed the responsibilites leading the Essex County NJ non profit organization is a resident of Middletown, NJ. He has spent much of his construction career with K. Hovnanian Homes of Red Bank, NJ. David held a variety of general management responsibilities, including sales, administration, construction, and warranty and homeowner association management for several NJ Gold Coast housing projects.
Dave has also held management positions with Continental Properties, Kalian Corporation and Tadian Homes. Prior to that, he worked in the banking and mortgage industries. In addition to general and project management, Dave has worked in land acquisition and assisting communities to meet Mount Laurel requirements in New Jersey.
“Since I did my graduate thesis I have been very interested in affordable housing,” said Dave. “That thesis was a study on affordable housing in Atlantic City and from there I started right out in land acquisition. I have always looked for opportunities in this area and now will be able to devote my energy to help deserving partner families build solid, safe homes. It will fulfill a long time dream.”
Dave, his wife and daughter, are members of Saint Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church in the Lincroft section of Middletown. Saint Leo’s is a sponsor of projects with Habitat for Humanity of Northeast Monmouth County.
Dave is an active member (and past president) of the Jersey Shore Running Club (JSRC). For the past seven years he has directed an annual Thanksgiving run called the Navesink Challenge. This event, including 15K and 5K road races, directs the proceeds to benefit Habitat of Northeast Monmouth.
