Hersh Corporation (Hersh Online) Announces Plan to Build a New New Server Facility (Data Center) in the LAX Area

Hersh Corporation (Hersh Online) will spend a projected $230,000 in 2008 to construct its new start of the art data center that will allow for increased energy efficiency and enhanced robustness.

El Segundo, CA, June 05, 2008 --(PR.com)-- On May 25, Hersh Corporation (Hersh Online) announced a plan to build a new server facility (data center) in the the LAX area. Hersh Corporation (Hersh Online) will spend a projected $230,000 in 2008 to construct its new start of the art data center that will allow for increased energy efficiency and enhanced robustness.

Over the past 5 years, Hersh has scaled significantly in which they now provide service to over 30 countries with over 400 technicians. However, this rapid growth has a resulted in a large “carbon footprint”. As stated by one of Hersh‘s corporate officers during a recent press conference, “Hersh needs to take an initiative and set an example for other technology companies by doing their part to create a more sustainable world for future generations.”

By using new green technologies provided by Hersh’s vendors such as IBM and Dell, Hersh is able to drastically reduce the amount of power consumed by each organization. For example, if a customer was consider switching to energy efficient servers in a 25,000 square-foot-data center they stand to save as much as 42% on energy consumption.

The end result is huge savings for the company and the environment. As stated by IDC, “for every dollar spent on computer hardware, another 50 cents is spent on energy. This can be expected to increase to 71 cents by 2011.”

Hersh’s (Hers Online) new data center will take advantage of the latest technology in virtualization. Through the use of new technology, Hersh will be able to provide it’s customer base with custom-tailored hosting solution to fit both the customer’s budget and hosting needs. Furthermore, through the use of new hosting technology, customer can quickly expand or contract their hosting environment with minimal impact on their production environment.

With the help of vendors such as IBM, Hersh will analyze the customer’s environment based on five components:
• Diagnosis
• Virtualization
• Provisioning
• Cooling

In the provisioning phase, customers will be introduced to a series of software applications that will help manage power distribution and cooling for the data center. In many cases, poor design and layout often contribute to large energy inefficiencies.

Hersh Corporation is excited about the launch of this program. By making smart decisions and using more efficient, environment friendly technology, tech firms can now being to play a large part in creating a “greener planet” as mentioned by Dale Hersh during a recent interview.
