Don’t Try This at Home, Kids; Limbo Films and Parker Eiden Go Airborne with National TV Spot for MotoSport
As BMX-bicycle motocross is making its debut at the Olympic Games in Beijing this August, the newest Olympic sport is gaining momentum around the world. Once again, Limbo Films finds itself right in the middle of the action - producing a national TV commercial for MotoSport, an Oregon-based motocross sports apparel & accessories brand. The spot speaks directly to the culture of motocross, using MotoSport employees as riders & acting talent.
Portland, OR, June 06, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Today, Limbo Films, a Portland, Ore.-based film production company, announced a new national TV advertisement filmed for Tualatin, Ore.-based motocross accessories and apparel manufacturer MotoSport (www.motosport.com). The concept for the ad was created by Portland marketing duo Parker Eiden Creative. The spot, now live, originally aired on Fox Sports AMA Supercross.
The first shot begins inside of what looks to be an office cubicle, but as the camera pans out, two motocross riders take flight literally above the head of an employee busy on the phone with a customer. It soon becomes clear that customer support is being performed on a real, outdoor motocross track. The environment – and use of actual MotoSport employees as riders and acting talent – conveys the genuine experience customers can expect in dealing with the company.
“The driving pulse behind the campaign is that when you order from MotoSport, you are working with riders just like you who will understand your needs,” said Limbo Films director Gary Nolton.
Nolton, Tim Parker and Greg Eiden have been collaborating since the early 1990’s. None are strangers to location and live-action challenges, such as dealing with tricky weather conditions while filming in Oregon in the early spring. Nolton inspired tremendous cooperation in order to have a custom-made track quickly built to his specifications; shooting was completed in just one day. “It’s always best to utilize experts in the field. We were very fortunate to work with a skilled, fearless crew that made this turnkey collaboration so successful,” said Nolton.
“The track could have easily turned to mud, creating safety concerns and messy conditions for the crew,“ said Parker, “but Gary rolls up his sleeves, immerses himself completely and gets it done”. “He’s truly a visionary”.
Maggie Hall, MotoSport’s Marketing Campaign Planning Manager, was also instrumental in the production, ensuring the ad spoke effectively to MotoSport’s audience. “Maggie understands and fights for good conceptual work,” said Parker. “Good clients make for good ads”.
