The Knowledge Congress Has Scheduled a Live Teleconference on the Challenge of MiFID in the United States
New York, NY, June 08, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The Knowledge Congress, the leading producer of regulatory focused teleconferences, has announced today that it has scheduled a live teleconference and webinar on The Challenge of MiFID in the United States. This two-hour event is scheduled on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM (EDT – New York).
The Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID), believed to be one of the most significant statutes in Europe in years, took effect on November 1, 2007. Member states were required as early as January 31, 2007 to adjust their national legislations in order to comply with this new rule. MiFID's purpose is to bolster a single European Union market for certain transactions involving capital mechanisms. The sectors that will primarily be affected by this are stockbrokers and broker dealers, investment banks, corporate finance firms, and other firms who are performing investment activities or those who are engaged in the business of providing investment services to third parties. The said statute is very crucial to these firms as it serves as a passport in conducting their business with other states. The Knowledge Congress is bringing together a group of professionals who will provide the attendees with a better understanding on what this directive is all about.
Speakers/Faculty Panel
Randall M. Hopkins, VP Market Data Distribution of Nasdaq
James Greig, Partner of WilmerHale
Diana Preston, Managing Director and Associate General Counsel of SIFMA
