Sikhcess™ Clothes 15,000 of Australia’s Homeless in a Single Day
On May 10, 2008, Sikhcess volunteers across Australia collected and distributed blankets, jackets, and other winter clothing items to the homeless and needy through its ‘Bundles of Warmth’ campaign, which provides aid during the most frigid months of the year. Sikhcess exceeded all expectations in meeting this need; having provided clothing to over 15,000 of the most desperate people in Australia.
Melbourne, Australia, June 08, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Sikhcess™, a worldwide community service based organization dedicated to creating positive change by bridging cultural, socioeconomic, and religious divides, has announced successful completion of its ‘Bundles Of Warmth’ campaign, Australia’s largest initiative of its kind to help needy men, women and children.
On May 10, 2008, Sikhcess volunteers across Australia collected and distributed blankets, jackets, and other winter clothing items to the homeless and needy through its ‘Bundles of Warmth’ campaign, which provides aid during the most frigid months of the year. Sikhcess exceeded all expectations in meeting this need; having provided clothing to over 15,000 of the most desperate people in Australia.
Sikhcess Australia received support from a variety of communities during the ‘Bundles of Warmth’ campaign, including Sikh, Hindu, Christian, Muslim, Jewish, and other Multi-Faith organizations. “The support around this common mission to help needy in Australia to cope with the frigid winter months has been tremendous,” stated Ms. Amarpreet Kaur, National Coordinator for Sikhcess Australia. “All volunteers working to make a difference deserve an ovation, as a feat like this has never been accomplished before,” she continued.
“This is not the first nor is it the last Sikhcess event,” stated Mr. Mandeep Singh, City Executive for Melbourne. “I encourage the University of Melbourne, Monash University, the Sri Guru Nanak Satsang Sabha, the Sri Guru Singh Sabha, the Sri Vakrathunda Vinayakar Temple, 3ZZZ – Melbourne Ethnic Community Radio, Indian Voice, and all others involved in this previous campaign to be involved in our future events,” Singh continued. “The joy in delivering community service is indescribable, and I encourage people from all walks of life to join us as we continue our mission to enhance life for all humankind”.
Sikhcess™ is best known for its ‘Feed The Homeless’ campaign, which spread across North America with extraordinary coverage within a very small amount of time, and has now expanded globally. The organization’s next campaign is set to take place on June 14, 2008 with volunteers ready to distribute individual food packages in four continents across the world, including Australia, North America, Europe, and Asia.
Working to help address homeless hunger, Sikhcess™ has taken ‘Langar’ (or ‘Free Community Kitchen’) to those on the streets, on a global level. Volunteers throughout the world distribute freshly prepared individual food packages to the homeless and needy.
The Sikh institution of ‘Langar’ was started by the founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak. It is the only free kitchen of its kind in the world, collectively serving millions around the world each year, regardless of gender, social standing, caste, color, religious affiliation, or beliefs. Through this ideal of equality, the tradition of Langar expresses the ethics of sharing, community, inclusiveness, and oneness of all humankind.
