New York, NY, June 08, 2008 --(PR.com)-- theMechanism, a multi-disciplinary design agency with offices in New York, London and Durban, South Africa, announces that the NY Web Standards Meetup Group http://webstandards.meetup.com/118/calendar/7835278/ will address WAI-ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications Suite) at theMechanism’s New York office 440 9th Avenue, 8th floor at 7:00 pm on June 26, 2008.

WAI-ARIA, the Accessible Rich Internet Applications Suite, defines a way to make Web content and Web applications more accessible to people with disabilities. It especially helps with dynamic content and advanced user interface controls developed with Ajax, HTML, JavaScript, and related technologies.

NY Web Standards keynote speaker, Jeffrey Barke will introduce WAI-ARIA and discuss how to use it. “During this event, the audience will learn what the Accessible Rich Internet Applications Suite is, why it's necessary and how to use it to make Web sites developed with dynamic content (such as Ajax and JavaScript) more accessible," said Jeffrey Barke, senior developer at theMechanism – New York.

NY Web Standards June 2008 will focus on WAI-ARIA with attendees from the web design and development fields expected to attend an evening of comprehensive deliberations and networking. In addition to attendee introductions, Web standards discussions and optional ‘show and tell’ sessions, this event will feature a guest speaking arrangement covering IE Root.
