Give Dad a Helping Hand
Weiman Products offers timely tips to help clean and protect some of dad’s favorite things.
Chicago, IL, June 08, 2008 --(PR.com)-- With all the time dad spends at work and on household chores, he rarely has time to relax, let alone take care of his own pet projects. This Father’s Day, give dad a helping hand. Weiman® Products (http://www.weiman.com) offers some timely tips to help clean, preserve and protect some of dad’s favorite things.
Recapture That New Car Feeling
The job of washing the car most usually falls to dad, so he will certainly be surprised when he sees the rest of the family has done the dirty work for him.
• It is best to clean dad’s car or truck in the morning or evening on a cool day in order to prevent water spots and streaks that occur when water dries too quickly.
• When preparing the cleaning solution, try to use half the recommended amount of car wash - too much cleaner can remove wax. Also, avoid using hot water, which can soften wax.
•It’s best to move from the top down, working in sections.
• Dry as soon as possible to prevent streaks and water marks.
• To make dad’s car really sparkle, don’t forget the details. Use a no-drip cleaner like Weiman® Professional Glass Cleaner to leave a streak-free shine along with a protective barrier that makes glass and rearview mirrors less susceptible to visual marks and easier to clean in the future. Also, use a gentle, all-purpose polish like Wright’s® Silver Cream to polish chrome accents and wheel rims.
Tee Time Tips
Caring for golf equipment may seem like a silly task, but dad will be grateful for the effort.
• Start by using a stiff brush to remove dried mud and grass from the heads of golf clubs. Wipe down clubs using a mild soap and water mixture and a clean soft rag. Finish with an all-purpose polish that will remove tarnish and leave clubs shiny.
• Removing grass stains from dad’s favorite golf bag is a great way to improve his overall look. Never use ammonia, degreaser or alkaline detergents, which can set a stain permanently. Instead, stick with a homemade remedy. Mix warm water with a non-fruit based vinegar or rubbing alcohol. Rub the mixture directly onto the stain and wash as normal. (Be sure to check the label for special cleaning instructions.)
• To clean golf shoes, use a stiff brush to remove dried mud and dirt from spikes. Next, use a clean damp cloth to remove grime from the body of the shoe. For leather shoes, finish by using a high quality leather cleaner and conditioner like Weiman® Leather Wipes. Ensure the cleaner is rich in natural oils and avoid using cleaning fluid, saddle soap and mink oil, which contain ingredients that may dry out leather.
• Soak golf balls and tees in a bucket of soapy water just long enough to remove the dirt. Then dry with a clean cloth and store safely in a carrying pouch.
The More the Merrier
Of course there is no end to the number of projects you can do to show dad just how special he is to you:
• Organize and clean up dad’s fishing tackle box. And don’t forget about the rod and reel.
• When’s the last time dad had the chance to organize his workbench? Grab the hand vac, a couple of plastic storage containers and get things back in order.
• Been awhile since dad hit the tennis courts? Clean out the racket bag and toss in a can of new tennis balls.
• He may not be Lance Armstrong, but even dad likes a shiny, clean bike; give it a wash and wax when you’re done with the car.
