Denver, CO, June 09, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The first national conference on journal writing in 16 years is scheduled to take place from June 18-21, 2008 in Denver, Colorado. The four day conference features internationally known faculty and presenters including keynote speakers Dr. James Pennebaker (premier research psychologist whose groundbreaking work correlates writing and healing), Christina Baldwin (leader of the renaissance in personal writing) and Dr. Tristine Rainer (pioneer in the field and protege/teaching partner of the famous diarist Anais Nin). “It’s an extravaganza of journaling riches,” says Kathleen Adams, Director of the Center for Journal Therapy and Journal Conference planner. “Whether you are a rookie journal keeper, a veteran, or a helping professional recommending writing to your clients, you'll find what you're looking for at Journal Conference 2008.” Six mix-and-match tracks (journal therapy, writing & healing, memoir & life story, writing in community, writing for creative self-discovery, writing & spirituality) allow a fully customizable conference experience. Psychotherapists can also take advantage of up to 18 hours of continuing education credits.

The conference will be held at the Sheraton Denver West, Denver, Colorado from Wednesday June 18 (pre-conference) thru Saturday noon, June 21. Wednesday evening is an opening reception with keynoters, faculty and all participants. Session topics include Writing for Emotional Balance, Journal the Healing Journey, Journaling for Therapist Self-Care, Spirituality and Writing, and many others. “With nearly 20 of the top authors in the field on the faculty, there will be book signings galore!” says Adams. “Anyone who has written a journal in the past, writes a journal now, or wants to begin a journal writing process will leave with enough inspiration and practical ideas to sustain them until Journal Conference 2009!” The conference is intended for journal writers, psychotherapists, social workers, bloggers, graduate students in psychology or social work, creative writers, students of personal growth, spiritual seekers, poets, and creative art therapists but is open to anyone interested in learning more about journal writing.
