Casey Cares Announces Kami's Jammies Program Which Provides PJs and Parties to Children on Extended Stay at Hospitals
The Casey Cares Foundation announces a new program: Kami's Jammies which provides pajamas and themed pajama parties to children on extended stays at area hospitals. Founded in 2000, the Casey Cares Foundation provides uplifting programs with a special touch to critically ill children and their families in MD and throughout the Mid-Atlantic area. Named in memory of a child, Kami's Jammies will add to their Family Festivities, Birthday Blasts, Celebration Vacation and Better Together programs.
Baltimore, MD, June 11, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The Board of the Casey Cares Foundation recently announced the addition of a new program, “Kami’s Jammies.” This program fits the mission of the Casey Cares Foundation which provides uplifting programs with a special touch to critically ill children and their families. To help brighten their days and make hospital stays more comfortable, the Kami’s Jammies Program provides pajamas, robes, slippers and monthly themed pajama parties to young inpatients in the pediatric department at area hospitals. This program will expand the charity’s repertoire of services which also includes Family Festivities, Celebration Vacations, Birthday Blasts and Better Together.
Kami’s Jammies was inspired in memory of Kamryn, a Casey Cares child who bravely battled leukemia, and who felt special when she would get a new pair of pajamas to wear in place of the hospital gowns during her frequent overnight stays at the University of Maryland Hospital for Children.
“Kami had a flair for fashion which even carried over into the pajamas that she wore,” said Debi Katzenberger, Kamryn’s grandmother and Kami’s Jammies Program Coordinator. “Passing this little symbol of joy and normalcy onto other hospitalized children is her legacy, and we think the best way to do this is through the Casey Cares Foundation who supported Kami and our family throughout her fight with cancer.”
The 1st Annual Kami's Jammies PJ Fundraiser will be held on Friday, June 27th at the Key West-BWI Ramada from 8:30 pm to 12:30 am in Baltimore. Tickets are $45.00 per person and include Food, Open Bar, and an International Dessert and Coffee Station.
