Local Entrepreneurs Get Help with Emerging Businesses at Network Event Hosted by Momentum Venture Management
Los Angeles, CA, June 11, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Momentum Venture Management will sponsor an entrepreneurs-only networking event on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at 4:30 p.m. at the Point Moorea Room in the Wilshire Grand Hotel, 930 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, CA.
The managing directors of Momentum Venture Management will be joined by Jack Bicer, CEO of Septium and president of TechBiz Connection, Stephanie Yanchinski, executive director of Entretech, and Bart Greenberg, partner at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips and chairman of the Tech Coast Venture Network.
The informal discussion will focus on how to help entrepreneurs succeed with their emerging businesses. This is a great opportunity to build a network with other local entrepreneurs and to test an elevator pitch with the managing directors of Momentum Venture Management in a relaxed environment. All attendees will be able to share ideas, give feedback, provide helpful solutions to business issues and help find a path to assembling the team and investment capital entrepreneurs need to break out.
Jack Bicer is CEO and CTO of Septium Corporation, a hybrid offshore custom software development company, combining offshore cost savings with U.S. management expertise. Prior to Septium, he held several CTO roles in internet companies since 1999 and as a turnaround CTO, enjoyed the sale of 1GlobalPlace to VeriSign. A 28 year software industry veteran, Mr. Bicer is an industry expert in offshoring, SaaS/web software, new product development, technology strategy and management. Known as the “Father of Uninstall”, he invented the uninstall concept and wrote the first uninstaller. He is also credited for inventing the "Automated Software Updates". In 2003, Mr. Bicer founded TechBiz Connection, non-profit technology management association, and currently serves as its chairman and president.
Bart Greenberg is a partner in the venture capital & technology practice at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP and chairman of Tech Coast Venture Network. He practices general corporate law with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions and debt and equity financings and has assisted in mergers and acquisitions in a wide variety of industries, including automobile collision repair, medical supplies and devices, information technology and agricultural products. Bart's practice emphasizes the representation of consolidators and roll-up strategies, focusing on all related acquisitions and financing activities, including private and public equity, senior credit facilities, as well as mezzanine, subordinated and vendor-facilitated debt facilities.
Stephanie C. Yanchinski is the executive director of Entretech, responsible for overseeing all aspects of strategic planning and operations, including fund-raising, membership, programming and promotion. Since its launch in 2000, the organization has grown to over 250 members, and has become the premier business development and networking organization. Entretech offers networking events and business training workshops, group purchase programs, a referral service and an interactive website. As European bureau Chief for McGraw Hill’s newsletter Biotechnology Newswatch, and through her writings for Business Week, the Financial Times newspaper, The Times and Guardian newspapers and European investment newsletters, she tracked the emergence of the biotechnology industry in Europe.
Matt Ridenour, managing director of Momentum Venture Management, LLC, has been active in private equity, venture capital and as a successful CEO in early stage companies prior to founding MVM. He has been a principal in more than 25 private market transactions with an aggregate value in excess of $200MM. Prior to MVM, Ridenour was CEO, then executive chairman, at UNX, Inc, a venture-backed firm providing equity trading software to hedge funds and other large institutions trading US Equities. He grew the company from start-up to over $30 million in sales in 3 years, and was responsible for all aspects of fundraising through multiple institutional rounds.
