Smarty Paws Dog Training in New Hyde Park, NY Announces the Addition of Even More Group Classes for the Summer
Smarty Paws Dog Training by Helen Del Bove provides obedience training and behavior modification services for dogs and puppies of all ages and sizes. Obedience training is offered in both group and private instruction. Group classes take place outdoors in New Hyde Park. Helen provides private, in-home instruction to all of Nassau County, parts of Queens and Western Suffolk County, NY.
Long Island, NY, June 13, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Smarty Paws Dog Training provides private, in-home instruction for basic obedience, common problem solving and behavior modification of serious behavior problems. Group classes for basic obedience are conducted April thru October and even more classes for Basic Obedience (6 months +) and Puppy Kindergarten (4-6 months) have just been added to the curriculum.
Encouraged by the success of the weekend Basic Obedience group classes currently offered, Smarty Paws has added summer classes on weekday evenings as well. The Basic Obedience group class is offered on Wednesdays at 7pm. It began on May 28th, running through July 23rd, and "drop-ins" are welcome. In addition, new weekend Basic Obedience classes will be starting June 28th and June 29th. The newly added Puppy Kindergarten is offered on Thursdays at 7pm starting June 26th and Tuesdays at 7pm starting July 15th.
The deadline to register for a group class is one week before the class starts. Interested dog owners should call Helen Del Bove at 516-395-7884 or visit the Smarty Paws Dog Training website at http://www.smartypawsny.com for more information about Helen and her training programs as well as some helpful tips and fun photos.
Interested dog owners that would like to see Helen and her students in action are welcome to audit a class (without your dog) for free. Auditing is a great way to learn more about Helen's training techniques and philosophies. It is recommended for persons interested in auditing or "dropping in" on a class to call ahead to confirm the class will be in session.
Smarty Paws Dog Training’s positive training methods really work. Helen believes that training should be a positive experience for both the owner and the dog. A positively trained dog looks forward to training with a wagging tail and is eager to comply, as opposed to compulsion-trained dogs that will do only just enough to avoid punishment. With positive training, no puppy is too young to start and, yes, you can teach an old dog new tricks.
In addition to training, Helen encourages all dog owners to begin socialization at an early age. Proper early socialization is crucial for the dog to live up to its true potential as a companion animal. Not only does Helen teach obedience training, she teaches proper socialization, how to build a strong bond with the pup and how to avoid common behavior problems.
Helen Del Bove is an Animal Behavior College Certified Dog Trainer and a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) with over 20 years experience working with dogs and their humans. Helen's approach to training teaches the dog to accept the owner as a benevolent leader. The end result will be that the dog will learn to listen to cues and undesirable behaviors will be eliminated or curtailed.
