Mastic Beach, NY, June 21, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The AntiHamptons are located on the South Shore of Suffolk County, Long Island just 70 miles from New York City.
Unable to afford the Hamptons, Fire Island or North Fork, the design team of Shawn and Maureen Getchell partners at GetcoDesign, came across Mastic Beach while driving around Long Island’s South Shore in 2000. They were instantly smitten. As the design team researched the area, they learned that beach bungalows are surprisingly affordable, taxes are relatively low, and the school district excellent. They want to tell the world how unbelievable the area is so AntiHamptons.com was born.
“People are always asking me why it’s called the AntiHamptons” says Maureen. “It’s because this place is the polar opposite of the Hamptons. There are no gated McMansions crowding the waterfront. Nobody ‘clubs’ here. There is no ‘scene’. It is quiet, multi-cultural and family-oriented. There isn’t a nanny in sight, people actually raise their own children here.”
