Prestigious International Schools in Asia Now Use Interactive Language Tools

Over 500 Students at Four Leading International Schools in Shanghai and Singapore to Utilize Interactive Multimedia to Learn Chinese.

San Francisco, CA, June 25, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Over 500 international students in Shanghai and Singapore will now learn Mandarin Chinese using interactive multimedia tools pioneered by ActiveChinese, Inc., the San Francisco and Shanghai based developer of innovative Mandarin language programs. The four schools are the Shanghai American School (SAS), Dulwich College Shanghai, Concordia International School Shanghai, and the United World College of Southeast Asia (Singapore).

ActiveChinese’s Kid’s (K-8) and School Editions (9-12) will be used in the classroom as a way to diversify the traditional curriculum, and to provide online access to material from the student’s home. Larry Chen, CEO of ActiveChinese, is “especially proud that our products were chosen by these prestigious schools to help teach Chinese in countries where Mandarin Chinese is the native language. This is great recognition of our product quality and versatility.”

Educators and students can take advantage of the wide range of resources available on ActiveChinese’s website (ActiveChinese.com) to enhance their teaching and learning experience, and take advantage of technology to learn a second language. “The School Edition is an excellent teaching tool to use in the classroom and hits the mark when it comes to appealing to a student's different learning styles," says Susan Zhang Yuehua, Chinese Program Coordinator at the Shanghai American School.

Concordia International School’s Mandarin Program Coordinator, Lan Ying McQueen, understands the appeal of ActiveChinese’s technology and methodology. To her, “the need for this type of approach is great because students nowadays are very tech savvy and they like to play computer games. With a product like ActiveChinese, students will have a greater interest in learning the language.”

Dawn Hull, the Coordinator of Asian Languages and Culture at Singapore’s United World College of South East Asia agrees. Her school chose ActiveChinese because the interface was “attractive and appealing to kids” and to “help reinforce Chinese in a fun and enjoyable way. She predicts “it will be especially useful for those who find the language challenging.”
