The Lighthouse Club – Celebrating 20 Years in Asia

The Lighthouse Club is celebrating 20 years in Asia in 2006. A construction industry organization, the Lighthouse Club promotes good fellowship and cooperation between its members.

Hong Kong, China, April 13, 2006 --(PR.com)-- The Lighthouse Club is celebrating 20 years in Asia in 2006. A construction industry organization, the Lighthouse Club promotes good fellowship and cooperation between its members. It does this through its organization of professional and social events, such as seminars, golf days, social events and dinners etc. Not only does it promote fellowship between people related to the construction industry, it creates great networking and business opportunities. Since opening its first Asian Club in Hong Kong, others have been opened in Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Singapore and most recently in Phuket and Macau.

Each Lighthouse Club also seeks to put back something of benefit into its local construction community by means of benevolence and charitable works. Thanks to the generous support of the Construction Industry, by way of sponsorship of the 20th Anniversary Events, this important milestone will be marked by the raising of a large amount of funds for the benefit of the Lighthouse Club charities.

The 20th Anniversary Events are being arranged by the Lighthouse Club Asia Pacific Region and are being held in Hong Kong and Macau in early May 2006. Cocktail Reception and 2006 Safety Awards

With the support of the Hong Kong Society of Registered Safety Officers, the Lighthouse Club Hong Kong branch has for over 10 years been offering its Safe Foreman of the Year Award to promote and recognize the contribution that Site Foremen make to safety on construction sites. Featuring valuable cash prizes for the winner and the four runners up, this event has grown to become the preeminent event of its kind in Hong Kong. Last year over 150 nominations of Safe Foremen from more than 40 companies were received and the finalists were invited to the Hong Kong Club for the Lighthouse Club’s cocktail reception and safety awards, at which the winner and runners up were announced and prizes presented.

In addition to making the Safe Foreman awards, the Lighthouse Club Hong Kong branch has also for several years organized and presented at the same event a Golden Helmet award. The Golden Helmet was donated to the Lighthouse Club Hong Kong Branch by the BCJ JV who was the Main Contractor of the Terminal Building at Chek Lap Kok Airport. The Golden Helmet is presented annually to a senior construction professional who has made a significant contribution to safety within the Hong Kong construction industry.
