The Summer Sunset Music Festival Draws Thousands of People Annually; the Associates of the Newport Marriott Hotel Have Raised Over 100 Thousand Dollars for Children
Associates of the Newport Marriott Hotel have raised more than $100,000 for Children’s Miracle Network and Boys and Girls Club over an 11 year span at the Sunset Music Festival. If you are attending this summer’s festival for any of the Boz Scaggs, Melissa Etheridge, Plain White T's, Mae and The Kung Fu Girls, Jimmie Vaughan, Indigo Girls, or John Hiatt and the Ageless Beauties concerts, be sure to get to the Marriott tent at the Entrance of the Newport Yachting Center at 5:30pm.

The associates of the Newport Marriott Hotel have run a silent auction and raffle solely on their own, for eleven years straight, with very little guidance from upper management. Betsy Seveney, Reservations Coordinator; Jonathan Baggot, Health Club Supervisor and Judith Chamberlin, Executive Assistant have been rallying associates, colleagues, vendors, tourist shops, hotels, sports teams, and good citizens and they’ve managed to raise more than $100,000 over the last 11 years for Children’s Miracle Network and the Boys and Girls Club of Newport Rhode Island. This year nearly every department of the Newport Marriott contributed a donation basket on their own goodwill – and the hotel is comprised of nearly 300 associates.
The Marriott Tent at the Sunset Music Festival features a silent auction and raffle with prizes that include beauty baskets, food and beverage packages, jewelry, tool chests and more. Many local dealers and vendors all donated prizes as well and there are items from fashion shops, art galleries, exotic handbags, health club memberships, and there are tons of hotel vacation giveaways to places all over the country. There is even a signed Celtics basketball from this year.
