Pacific Flight Services Signs New Piper Seminole to Flight Line
Australian Flight School, Pacific Flight Services has placed a Piper Seminole on the flight line in Sydney for dedicated twin-engine pilot training and Multi-Engine Command Instrument Rating.
Sydney, Australia, July 06, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Australia’s Pacific Flight Services has announced it has taken delivery of a Piper PA44 Seminole for twin-engine training.
“It was an essential addition to the fleet,” said PFS Sydney Manager, Capt. Rod Crane. “Many of our students, both international and local, who are keen to fast-track their training into the airlines, choose to train on twins in order to gain the maximum possible multi-engine command hours during their Commercial Pilot training. Of course the Seminole is also available to students who choose to obtain their multi-engine endorsement and Multi-Engine Command Instrument Rating following completion of their CPL.”
Although it is very similar to the Beechcraft Duchess, the other common twin trainer, as a member of the Piper family the Seminole offers a more or less seamless transition to the multi-engine challenges for students who have trained on Piper Warriors and Arrows.
The Seminole comes with two 180-hp Lycoming engines with counter-rotating propellers. Maximum speed is 202 knots, with a cruise of 155 knots. The range is a healthy 1,630 km, service ceiling is 15,000 ft with a single engine ceiling of 3,800 ft and the rate of climb is 1,200 ft/min.
“The Seminole’s very popular already, ” says Crane. “Along with the Duchess we have also been using, at the rate we are booking the Seminole, it looks like we’ll have to place another one on line sooner rather than later.”
