First Novel Tale of an Arkansas Cowboy: Book One is Now Available

Theodore Taylor's life is filled to the lip of the glass as he juggles running a small cattle farm, going to college full time and working at a local commuter airline while finding himself with two women in his life, one his mother can’t stand and another she has literally sent to bring him in. But he’s willing to keep up the pace as long as he has his Jimmy Buffett music to help make a little sense of it all.

Lincoln, AR, July 08, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Set in Northwest Arkansas and the Bahama Islands, Pete Jordon’s first published novel, Tale of an Arkansas Cowboy: Book One is stuffed with so many colorful characters, adventures and pleasing turns of phrases, it has grown into a possible series of novels with Book Two now being written to carry the story and characters still father and Book Three (and maybe Four) in planning. for $24.22 (plus shipping) for a trade paperback copy, or $6.25 for a downloaded copy of the book.

The title character, Jimmy Buffett music-loving Theodore Taylor is joined by not only his love interests Irene Robbins and Roilyn Douglas, but Elvis impersonator Billy Baker, super-lover Valentino, a snake keeping lineman for Scareways, the local commuter airline, Pete who is Theodore’s best friend and newspaper photographer who’s always up for an adventure like coming face-to-face with a man-hating buffalo, and the Cherokee Ninja, who is also the local airport’s animal control officer when he’s not in bass fishing tournaments or making life "interesting" for the local police department, just to name a few.

This book had its start as a serial novel posted chapter by chapter on a few Jimmy Buffett web sites. So virtually every chapter has a reference to Buffett, his music or the island lifestyle in one way or the other. A few are a little obscure, but if you look for them and spread out your imagination, they’re there. As far as their still showing up in Book Two, it’s hard to keep them out once they start creeping in, author Pete Jordon reports.

In the Bahamas the book follows a secret FBI/NSA/DEA/CIA/USN mission detailed to rid the region of Booboo and Mojo, two hard to figure rogues on a mission to spread as much confusion and fear across the Islands as possible before they’re run to earth. And on the side there’s Mitch Rollins and his smuggling and counterfeiting operation specializing at the moment in Topps baseball cards and Jericho Jefferson who along with his sons make their living salvaging shipping containers that have washed off the decks of passing container ships.

As is befitting a lover of all things aviation, Theodore Taylor works for the local mini-commuter airline called Scareways by everyone who has ever ridden them that makes the run back and forth between Little Rock and Fayetteville like clockwork. Almost getting killed by walking into a prop is just one of his adventures on the ramp. Then that mysterious black airplane visits.

And there’s the triennial meeting of the Viking Historians of Oklahoma at Heavner, Oklahoma, and their doings around the Viking Runestone there. The craziness there, all created by Theodore to "impress" Roilyn, only runs from prim and proper historian David Rogers to Pravel, a totally over the top character who takes playing barbarian to an entirely new level.

Needless to say, this is a very busy book and all the above has really only scratched the surface of the countless wonderful things happening between it’s covers.

Oh, and there’s a little about Theodore and his beef farm mixed in as well.
